The Lowell Center, a department of the City of Wisconsin Rapids, is located in the Centralia Center at 220 Third Avenue South. The Centralia Center, a beautifully renovated building, opened in 2003. It also houses the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin, and Park Place Adult Day Services. Collectively, these agencies provide a variety of programs, services and resources for senior citizens. The Lowell Center is an accredited senior center in the state of Wisconsin through the Wisconsin Senior Center Association.
Programs & Activities
The Lowell Center provides a broad range of programs and activities for adults age 50 and over, including billiards, dances, exercise classes, line dancing, crafts, cards, singing groups, book club, tax assistance, bus trips, bingo, writing classes and many more!
One of the unique features of the Center is an indoor walking path which is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The surface of the path is made from floor tiles that are designed to create less impact on joints. Walkers interested in covering longer distances are welcome to extend their route into the attached River Walkway hallway.
The Lowell Center office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number is 715-421-1051. Our newsletter, "A Good Life" contains information about programs and activities and is published monthly. It may be picked up at the Lowell Center office, viewed on-line, or mailed to your home for a nominal fee.
