Arthritis Exercise Class

A group exercise class designed to help those who have joint and/or muscle problems achieve improved joint mobility muscle strength and endurance in order to improve the performance of daily activities.  
Advanced registration is required for this class and a fee does apply. 

Aquatic Swim

Aquatic Swim is a low level aquatic exercise to help with balance, muscle toning and movement for arthritic joints.  Class runs from June - August each year at the Witter Park Aquatics Center.  Advance registration is required for this class and a fee does apply.  

Cardio Drumming

This group of energetic cardio drummers meets at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in the River Walk Hallway during the winter months and outside on the patio when the warm sun shines in spring, summer and fall.  
Follow the instructor's routine, but of course at your own pace and comfort level.  We enjoy cardio routines to artist such as Neil Diamond, Pitbull, The Andrew Sisters and more for approximately 40 minutes.  All supplies are provided and all levels of exercise ability are welcome as you can do cardio drumming standing or seated.  

Line Dance

We encourage all levels of line dancers to join this fun energetic group as we dance to all types of music.  Country, 50's & 60's, Swings and more.  Experience is not necessary.
No registration is required and there is no fee.

Nordic Walking Poles

Nordic Walking is defined as "walking with a pair of specially designed poles."  Nordic Walking is a low stress, time efficient, total body workout.   The key is to engage the tip of the pole with the ground to stimulate core, back, shoulder, and arm muscles.  It can be enjoyed by all ages and levels of fitness. 
During the summer months a group of walkers will meet and walk along the Wisconsin River on the path. 
No registration is required and there is no fee.

Resistance Chair

The Resistance Chair program was specifically designed for seniors and provides an excellent way to achieve a full body, low impact workout.  You remain seated and are able to maintain balance and stability as your safely exercise.  Our chairs include a mini-bike attachments and exercise DVD's to follow along. 
Advanced registration is required and there is no fee for this program.

Senior Exercise

Want a class that covers all the basics?  Try Senior Exercise!  Class begins with the participants tossing bounce balls to each other to warm=up and improve coordination skills.  Participants then focus on 30 minutes of slow, methodical stretching, concentrating on every part of the body, including the eyes.  Next is two laps around the padded walking path and finally a cool down segment with more relaxing, gently stretching.   Participants are encouraged to exercise vocals cords too as they sing along to the background music. 
No registration is required and there is a $.25 fee for this class

Walking Path

The Lowell Center has a blue, cushioned walking path that is designed to reduce impact on the joints.  Approximately 13 laps around the path equals one mile.  For a longer trek, walkers may choose to extend their walk into the River Walk hallway.
No registration is required and there is no fee.
Yoga
The yoga class is offered in 10 week sessions that meet on Monday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. throughout the year.  This class has been created so you can either sit or stand while participating.  Some classes are lead by the instructor, others are following along to a DVD instruction.  There is a small fee to attend this class and registration with payment is required prior to class participation.
